POLICE OFFICERS

Maxton NC :     21 years of age, high school diploma or GED, successful completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training, good driving record, valid N.C. driver’s license.   No experience required.   Must submit complete application and submit to physical exam, drug screening, psychological evaluation and extensive background investigation. POLICE CHIEF, Maxton pop. 2,600

The Town of Maxton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Chief; previous Chief retired Dec. 2009 after 8 years of service as Chief.   The position performs responsible and aggressive law enforcement activities, management/supervisory duties, and administrative oversight in directing the operations of the Maxton Police Department, consisting of 10 full-time sworn, 2 part-time sworn and 5 full-time civilian personnel.   The Chief is expected to actively lead the Department in the fight to eliminate crime, and to improve the safety of the lives and property of residents, business owners and visitors.     Requires in-depth knowledge of law enforcement principles, techniques, statutes, and technologies, community policing, and crime prevention/eradication tactics.     Department level position reporting to the Town Manager.     Requires 4 year degree in Criminal Justice and minimum 5 years experience in upper rank supervisory role, or 3 years as a Police Chief.   Applicants must possess a valid NC drivers license and NC Law Enforcement Certificate prior to applying.   Maxton is a vibrant, resurgent community located along the beautiful I-74 Corridor in Robeson and Scotland Counties .     Salary commensurate with experience/qualifications.     Cover letter, resume, references to Town Manager Vince Long, Town of Maxton , 201 Mc Caskill Street P.O.
